You know you're a (sleep deprived, stay at home) mom when...

Sometimes after I do something I know I would never find myself doing a year ago, I think to myself about how much life has changed. A lot of these things I think happen to every mom out there, but some pertain to just being a SAHM. Either way, I hope other moms out there can relate! You know you're a (sleep deprived, stay at home) mom, when... You can't remember the last time you wore pants that buttoned, as opposed to an elastic waist. You get extremely frustrated at the self check-out at Safeway for not accepting your coupon when an employee points out to you that you are attempting to use a Giant coupon. You can't remember what it feels like to sleep for more than five or six hours at a time. In fact, if you get four hours straight and six hours total in a night, you feel like you could run a marathon. If only your body remembered how to run... The last time you bought something for yourself, it involved a huge panel waist and a "Motherhood Maternity...

MOPS

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) has come to my church! I am so excited. A friend of mine who is expecting her second baby boy, is starting it up for us. She had us over for the kick-off dinner last night and it was so fun (plus she's an amazing cook who is as addicted to Pinterest as I am) to eat and fellowship with other moms. I had never heard of MOPS before, but from what I know now I am very excited to be a part of it. It was started by a handful of mothers who went on play dates and prayed together. It has grown to an international program sponsored by churches all over the world. You can read more about it on the MOPS website that I linked...we will have educators, pastors, other moms, etc. come and speak to us and we'll also get together w/ the babies every once in awhile too! ;) I am looking forward to spending time with moms who have the same priorities as I do and getting out. I am so excited about it that I actually looked up to see if there was one in Anchorage, if...

A Day in the Life of Mama S'more

Image
In my last post I mentioned being involved in a message board of August 2011 moms. Recently (well, not so recently, I am a little behind, but I digress...) one of the moms challenged us to a "day in the life of...." post. I assure you this is RIVETING stuff people, you will not want to miss what Clara and I were doing at 1:17 p.m. and forget about 9:32 a.m. - THE EXCITEMENT NEVER CEASES AROUND HERE, PEOPLE! 7:06 a.m . Clara wakes up...we're actually feeling pretty good because she slept all night, only waking up once! :) She gets a diaper change and we head downstairs. Daddy has been gone for a couple hours already. I have a feeling Clara has been awake for a little while but hasn't made a peep. Thanks for the extra few minutes of sleep, love. ;) 7:15 a.m. Clara gets her bottle. When she's done, I eat some oatmeal (I will later have a post dedicated solely to oats and how my life is revolving around this food lately...moving on...) while watching Teen Mom 2 on ...

Mommy guilt

I am a part of an online group of moms who were brought together by our due dates. It started as a public message board for August 2011 moms and since then we have created a more private facebook group. It's hard to believe how a group of women I have never met can keep me sane...our babies are going through the same things at the same time, which means a lot of us are going through the same things too. I can sign on one day, running on little to no sleep, and see someone else actually got less sleep than I did. OR someone got a lot more, and posts that there is hope for the rest of us! We all support one another and the best part is all the pictures of the cute little babies growing into cute little people! :) Anyways, one of the moms posted a link to  this  article this morning and really resonated with me. The mom who wrote it has been both a WM (working mom) and a SAHM (stay at home mom) like myself and she discusses the guilt we put ourselves through as moms of either s...

My first official blog post! I feel like this should be more exciting than it is. As it is, I am wearing sweat pants that my 5 month old peed on (a few hours ago, and yes, I have yet to take them off. This should tell you a lot about me already), listening to my hubby chuckle to his book in bed behind me, and contemplating whether or not I'll take a shower after this or (more likely) attempt some rare sleep. For a quick intro to all my readers out there (Ha, ha...) My name is Erynne, I am a wife to my loving and kind of strange husband Ian, and a stay at home mommy to my beautiful and funny daughter Clara. We are originally from Alaska but are currently "displaced" (aka permanent residents in denial) in Maryland and have been so for over four years now. I hope writing this blog will provide some much needed "me" time and help me decompress my thoughts about being a new mommy and life in general. If some readers find me along the way, that'd be pretty fun t...
