I'm sorry, but I just had a baby...

How long can you use the excuse "I'm sorry, but I just had a baby"? This topic has come up recently on my message board, in my MOPS group, and in the locker room at the gym. Maybe I'm just bringing it up all the time. ;) I was telling a woman at the gym that my daughter was seven months old and while I'm trying to lose weight I still frequently use the excuse "Well I'm fat because I just had a baby." She said "My son is three years old and I still use that excuse." Nice! It made me wonder how long you can use the excuse (my thoughts are 18 years for each kid), and what you can be excused for...this is the list I came up with. I'm sorry I'm fat , but I just had a baby. I'm sorry I have bags under my eyes , but I just had a baby. I'm sorry I forgot about that work/school project, but I just had a baby. I'm sorry my house is a mess, but I just had a baby. I'm sorry I forgot to go to my appointment to sign/fin...

Homemade Cleaning Products

At the most recent MOPS meeting I attended, we went over homemade cleaning products and remedies that are easy and safe to use, and save money. I am going to try the dishwasher detergent that she showed us; I have attempted it before but mine wasn't effective.I'll blog about that after I've tried it. I mentioned to the other moms that I've made our laundry detergent for a few years now. I think I spent $35 on all the ingredients three years ago and still have about half of the ingredients left, so I'd say it's definitely paid off. I used to make it about twice, sometimes three times, a year but now with Clara I have had to start making it more often. I will probably end up making it four times a year...they weren't kidding when they said the laundry never stops once you have a kid! We use a different kind of detergent for her cloth diapers, I purchased it but am considering making a special kind when that runs out. Anyways, here is the link to the original ...

MOPS

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) has come to my church! I am so excited. A friend of mine who is expecting her second baby boy, is starting it up for us. She had us over for the kick-off dinner last night and it was so fun (plus she's an amazing cook who is as addicted to Pinterest as I am) to eat and fellowship with other moms. I had never heard of MOPS before, but from what I know now I am very excited to be a part of it. It was started by a handful of mothers who went on play dates and prayed together. It has grown to an international program sponsored by churches all over the world. You can read more about it on the MOPS website that I linked...we will have educators, pastors, other moms, etc. come and speak to us and we'll also get together w/ the babies every once in awhile too! ;) I am looking forward to spending time with moms who have the same priorities as I do and getting out. I am so excited about it that I actually looked up to see if there was one in Anchorage, if...
